The most popular military small arm in U.S. history has been the subject of a small number of books, perhaps the most important of which are the perenniall popular WAR BABY! (first published in1992) and WAR BABY Comes Home (first published in 1993). Both have been reprinted numerous times, and remain available. Today, over seventy years since the birth of the U.S. carbine in 1941, interest in it has not only not abated, but has increased phenomenally. In addition to the over six million military carbines which were manufactured during World War II, over one million commercial examples have been made or assembled since 1960.
