The Premium Die Set for Handgun Cartridges consists of a 3-die set which contains the following:
- NxGEN Carbide Sizing Die
- Special Expander Die
- Premium Seating Die with our Bullet Seating Micrometer plug for handgun bullets with a crimp function matched to the cartridge. The best possible handloads can be attained by crimping after the bullet has been seated in place.
Redding NxGEN Carbide Dies for handgun cartridges offer an unprecedented level of precision for your handloads. Utilizing the latest advances in materials and manufacturing technologies, NxGEN dies are able to maximize cartridge to chamber conformity. Better materials,better manufacturing and better engineering coupled with all new internal designs translates to better function, better case life and better groups.
The unique design of the special expander performs four distinct functions. The smooth entry radius is followed by the correct expanding diameter for proper press fit of the bullets. The upper section of the expanding diameter has a concentric ring which opens the case mouth slightly larger than bullet diameter to enhance bullet alignment. The final taper can provide a “bellmouth” on the case mouth when desired, usually when using lead bullets.
A new Bullet Seating Micrometer has now been created by Redding for use with standard seating dies using 1/2-20 threads.
