Headspace is the distance from the bolt face to the datum point in the chamber that stops the forward travel of the cartridge case. The set is precision ground to American National Standard (ANSI) tolerances and is supplied in .001” step increments. The ANSI tolerance for headspace gages is based on ANSI/SAAMI specifications. This 223 Rem. chamber gage set starts with a 1.4636”-length gage and progresses in .001” step increments. The longest gage is 1.4736”.
