The Hornady XTP (eXtreme Terminal Performance) designed for hunting, self-defense and law enforcement applications. The XTP affords accuracy for competitive shooters and down range results for hunters. There are two versions, the XTP and XTP-Mag. The standard XTP works in a velocity envelope of 700 to 1500 FPS; whereas the XTP-Mag thrives with velocities ranging from 1200 to 2300 FPS. Some bullets are offered in both a hollow point and soft point version. The Hornady XTP bullets demonstrate the kind of accuracy which led many competitive shooters to adopt it. XTP bullets intended for revolver use come with a cannelure to a roll crimp can be applied. The autoloading version works best with a taper crimp.
