Berger Bullet Offerings
- Target Bullets have been winning local, regional, national and world matches for decades. Flat Base Target bullets are the staple used by short range bench rest shooters who are hyper-focused on the tightest possible groups. Boat Tail Target bullets have a tangent ogive, but have a slight advantage in the wind, making these perform extremely well in windy conditions and at longer ranges. Long Range Boat Tail Target bullets take that easy-to-tune tangent ogive and lengthen it to the extreme for an increased Ballistic Coefficient (BC) and better performance at even further yardages.
- VLD bullets have two specific features: a boat tail and secant ogive (nose) proven to be the most efficient shape for external ballistic performance. The secant ogive allows the bullet to experience reduced drag resulting in flatter shooting with less wind drift. VLDs typically have the highest Ballistic Coefficient (BC) and can be tuned for ultimate precision.
- Hybrid Target bullets blend the best aspects of tangent and secant nose shapes into one ogive. It starts at the bearing surface with a tangent ogive that aligns itself when the bullet contacts the rifling. Then it transitions to a secant ogive, proven to be least influenced by wind, with its reduced drag properties. The result is a high Ballistic Coefficient (BC) bullet that is easy to load and shoot.
- Our LRHT™ line features a total of six different offerings ranging from 22 caliber up to 30 caliber. We designed each offering around a specific long range shooting discipline, such as Fullbore/Palma, F-TR, F-Open, PRS, and NRL. Each of these new bullets started with an optimized hybrid design, which means they are incredibly easy to tune to your rifle and have great Ballistic Coefficients (BCs). We took those already fantastic designs and merged them with our patented MRT™ system to create a bullet that further improves the BC while actually creating a more consistent and reliable BC than a typical open tip match grade bullet would normally achieve.
- Open Tip Match (OTM) Tactical Bullets are trusted by our military’s elite forces for being the most accurate, dependable and deadly projectiles commercially available today. Berger Tactical Bullets are designed to bridge the gap between flawless functionality and the highest possible ballistic performance. Each tactical bullet is designed with a specific cartridge in mind that is used most commonly in tactical competitions as well as in Mil/LE operator platforms against bad guys.
- Varmint Bullets are used by hunters and accuracy enthusiasts who demand the highest level of performance for their small game needs. We build our Varmint bullets with the same machinery, tooling, materials and tolerances used to produce all of our industry-leading competition target bullets. That includes the use of Berger J4 Precision hunting jackets as well. Each J4 jacket measures +/- .0003” Total Indicated Runout (TIR) and is the foundation for which all precision projectiles are built.
- VLD Hunting bullets are produced with one very important feature in mind: Performance. Typical VLD bullets have two specific features: a boat tail and secant ogive (nose) proven to be the most efficient shape for external ballistic performance. The secant ogive allows the bullet to experience reduced drag resulting in flatter shooting with less wind drift. Our VLD Hunting bullets also incorporate a slightly thinner J4 Precision Hunting jacket, which allows the projectile to penetrate 2″ to 3″ before rapidly expanding.
- Classic Hybrid Hunter projectiles are built with same industry-leading Hybrid ogive as our Hybrid Target bullets, the #1 choice of nearly every competitive long range shooting discipline. The Classic Hybrid Hunter produces exceptional accuracy and field results when loaded to traditional SAAMI and CIP specifications. This unique construction enables hunters to experience Berger’s world-renowned target-grade accuracy out of a magazine fed or factory rifle. Our Classic Hybrid Hunter bullets also incorporate a slightly thinner J4 Precision hunting jacket, which allows the projectile to penetrate 2″ to 3″ before rapidly expanding.
- Elite Hunter bullets are made with the longest possible Hybrid ogive (nose). Elite Hunter’s utilize the same industry-leading Hybrid ogive as our Hybrid Target bullets, the #1 choice of nearly every competitive long range shooting discipline. As the bearing surface ends, the tangent ogive begins, resulting in much less sensitivity to seating depth. As you move beyond the tangent ogive, the shape changes to a secant ogive, maximizing efficiency in the wind. The long-nosed Elite Hunter projectiles produce the highest possible Ballistic Coefficients. By design, it’s intended for hunters meticulously hand loading and either have extended length magazines or single feed their ammunition.
