New At SHOT Show 2015 - Rock Island Armory 22 TCM Slide for the Glock 17
Posted by Gunstop on 13th Feb 2015
Currently, the .22 TCM cartridge isn’t that popular, but that might all change now that shooters will be able to swap out their Glock 17 slide with a kit from Rock Island Armory and shoot this hot little round through their Glock 17.
The .22 TCM is a bottlenecked .22 caliber load that sends a 40 grain bullet at a blistering 1,875 feet per second. The .22 TCM is based on the 223 Remington and designed so that the shoulder is about the same length as the case mouth of a 9x19. This means shooters can load .22 TCM in factory Glock 9mm magazines.
Because it’s a hot load and fairly new, it’s recommended for experienced reloaders only. Components are hard to come by for now — some people make their own brass from 223 Remington cases. The market for .22 TCM may grow substantially in the next year if this new conversion kit becomes popular.
The .22 TCM is said to have very light recoil and be a pleasure to shoot. With a small projectile and high velocity, it’s most likely going to be very flat shooting and accurate. Some reloaders compare it to the equally rare and fun to shoot FN 5.7.
