New Manufacturers of small arms primers

Big Picture Look towards the future sources of primers.

Beretta has acquired the European venture corporation, Ruag Ammotec . This Beretta acquisition will have under one umbrella; brands like RWS, Norma, Geco and Rottweil ammunition. Beretta has broken ground on 300,000 square foot campus next to Daniel Defense in the Peach State, Georgia. The investment is valued at $60 Million.

Another European manufacturer, Fiocchi, is building a lead-free primer manufacturing plant in Arkansas. This undertaking has an estimated cost of $42 Million. This is being built in the Little Rock area.

Other new operations on the horizon. A new venture, First Breach in Maryland, will being making primers in the 3rd quarter of 2023. Their offerings will include small pistol, small rifle, and large rifle primers. In addition, they will be offering bullets and brass cases for reloading or for OEM use.

Expansion Ammunition is the second firm to start operations to manufacture small arms primers in the USA. They acquired a former US Army Depot located in east Texas. It appears they have released some primers for ammunition OEM’s. No retail primers have hit the streets.

There is information circulating that SigSauer will start producing primers for the reloader market.

And, Nammo, the holding conglomerate that owns VV Powder, SK Rimfire, Lapua, and Berger Bullets has broken ground on primer manufacturing facility in Finland.
